David Donovan is a management consultant and an active investor in early stage and startup companies. He retired in 1998 from the management consulting firm he co-founded and which is now publicly traded as Navigant Consulting, Inc. (NCI). Prior to retiring, he had consulted to over sixty energy utility companies and regulatory commissions and had testified in more than a dozen state regulatory proceedings. Today Donovan Company is a sole-proprietorship management consulting firm focusing on organizational strategy. In addition to technology startup companies, clients have included a variety of nonprofit agencies, universities, and healthcare organizations.
In 2007 David co-founded Capital Community Angel Investors, an angel investment group based in East Lansing. Today he serves as President of that group and is also a member of the Executive Committee of Michigan Angel Funds I, II and III. He has also served on a number of corporate and nonprofit boards of directors, including Michigan Nonprofit Association and the Food Bank Council of Michigan, both of which he currently serves as Treasurer.
